Health Psychology Consulting

It has and continues to be important to me to think about how I can reach a different audience and help people outside of my private practice. One way I do this is by extending my health psychology services to hospitals, businesses, and community agencies. Briefly, health psychologists promote medical health by using interventions that address lifestyle, emotions, thoughts, and environment. Health psychologists also design and implement models of healthcare delivery within medical healthcare systems (and beyond) with the aim of increasing patient engagement, preventing medical illness, and improving medical health for those with medical illness. Cardiovascular disease, cancer, infertility, and diabetes are among the medical illnesses that health psych interventions target.

To this end,  I recently teamed up with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and gave a presentation to the Greater New York City Community Leadership Board on the subject of depression and adherence. Currently, my work with the ADA involves the development and implementation of educational programing designed to help patients and family members engage in health-promoting behaviors and disease prevention and management strategies. In the future, I hope to continue my work with the ADA on a wide-range of projects. One project that is underway is the formation of a collaborative partnership the American Psychological Association.  This partnership involves the development of training programs for psychologists that focus specifically on the unique needs of persons with diabetes.
